• Initiated by Slovenia – Slovenia proposed World Bee Day to the United Nations, and in 2017, the UN officially declared May 20 as World Bee Day.
   
• Honoring Anton Janša – The date was chosen to mark the birthday of Anton Janša (1734–1773), a Slovenian pioneer of modern beekeeping and one of the first teachers of apiculture in the world.
   
•  A global call to action – World Bee Day raises awareness about the vital role of bees and other pollinators in our food systems—and the urgent need to protect them from threats like pesticides, habitat loss, and climate change.

March was an exciting month for beekeepers across Europe, and for us at BeeConn, it was especially thrilling to see the growing interest in our innovative monitoring devices.
