BeeConn Set 2 consists of three main components, two scales and the gateway. Optionally it can be expanded with BeeConn weather station or camera. Gateway is powered from the mains, scale are powered by 3xAA batteries (optionally it can be plugged into mains with additional adapter). System can be expanded with up to 30 scales for monitoring 30 bee families on the location of the gateway. Scale, weather station and gateway communicate wirelessly and can be up to 1000m apart.
For communication to mobile or web application you need WiFi access point or GSM connectivity at the gateway location.
The bee scale is an important tool for modern beekeepers, as it enables precise control over the condition of the hive and the bee colony. Why choose a beekeeping scale:
Monitoring of honey production
The scale helps beekeepers monitor daily changes in hive weight, which can indicate the amount of honey the bees are producing. This provides a better insight into profitability and optimal harvest time.
Monitoring the health status of bees
Sudden changes in weight (weight loss or slow gain) can indicate problems such as disease, poor grazing, lack of food or even honey theft. A bee scale makes it possible to quickly detect such changes and act before problems worsen.
Better organization of care
With the scale, beekeepers can optimize the time and method of tending the hives. For example, the scale shows when to add food to the bees or when it is time to pour honey, which reduces unnecessary interventions in the hive and disturbing the bees.
Effective grazing monitoring
A scale helps monitor how well the bees are utilizing a particular pasture, as increasing weight indicates good nectar collection. This allows the beekeeper to make better decisions about moving hives to different locations.
A tool for research and long-term analysis
For beekeepers who want more detailed insights, the scale enables the collection of data over a longer period of time. This contributes to a better understanding of seasonal changes, weather influences and the performance of individual bee colonies.
Remote control
Modern beekeeping scales are connected to online applications, which enables remote monitoring of the condition of the hives. The beekeeper can monitor weight anywhere and receive notifications of sudden changes, increasing efficiency and reducing the need for frequent hive visits.
Birth control
Sudden changes in weight can indicate the beginning of the birthing process. The beekeeper can act in time and prevent the loss of the bee colony.
A beekeeping scale is a useful tool to improve the efficiency and care of bee colonies, while allowing the beekeeper to handle his hives more accurately and responsibly.
